Tottenham Hotspur have set down an impressive marker when it comes to their title aspirations after defeating Manchester City 2-0 at White Hart Lane.
An impressive Spurs side move to within just one point of City at the top of the table as they also dealt Pep Guardiola his first Premier League defeat in charge of the Manchester club.
Tottenham went in front after just nine minutes when Aleskandar Kolarov turned a Danny Rose cross into his own net.
By half-time it was 2-0 as Erik Lamela played in Dele Alli to sweep in a finish past Claudio Bravo.
It could have been 3-0 to Spurs when Fernandinho fouled Alli to concede a penalty.
But Lamela's poor penalty was saved by Bravo to give Mauricio Pochettino's side a 2-0 win and also signal that they will have a huge say in this season's title race.
In the other 2.15pm Sunday fixture, reigning Premier League champions Leicester played out a 0-0 draw at home to Southampton.
