There was just one goal scored between Oklahoma side Energy FC and Sacramento Republic last night, and it was a screamer.
Energy FC player Miguel Gonzalez put his side in front in the first half of their United Soccer League tie, through a bicycle kick.
An impressive enough feat in its own right, but the kick was set up by teammate Brian Harris, who launched the ball into the box with a flip style throw-in that sent the ball thundering into the danger area. It was headed into the path of Gonzalez, who provided the blistering finish.
Speaking to the USL website, a delighted Gonzalez described what he was thinking when he attempted the bicycle kick.
"When you see a chance like that, it’s just an instinct and you hit it. Fortunately it went in the goal. And you know, happy that that happened. And even happier that we got the three points here at home for the fans. We needed this going into the break right now."
