'There seemed a little bit of arrogance in City'

Manchester City lacked "fight" and "determination", and showed "arrogance" in defeat at Anfield today, according to Alan McLoughlin.

The former Ireland international was not impressed by Manuel Pellegrini's men in their 2-1 loss at Liverpool, and reckons the champions have all but lost their Premier League crown.

"There'll be question now about Pellegrini, whether he can take the club forward," former Ireland international McLoughlin told Newstalk's Nathan Murphy after a loss which left City five points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea having played a game more.

"I expected more today. A little bit more fight, a little bit more determination. There seemed a little bit of arrogance in there. Maybe they underestimated Liverpool a little bit. Maybe they [thought they] could rock up to Anfield and get the job done. And it wasn't the case."

But McLoughlin says there were "lots of positives" for Liverpool and that it was their best performance of the season: "It certainly looked like it to me," he said. "They looked composed on the ball, particularly in the second half.

"They didn't give City a moment's peace on the ball. I think they earned their luck at times and they played very well. They kept the ball very well. More than anything it keeps the faith with the Liverpool fans."
