The dates for this season's Clasico clashes have been announced

With the announcement of the La Liga calendar every year, the eye is always drawn to the two standout fixtures that fans of football the world over will be circling: el clásico.

This year, the first meeting between Barcelona and Real Madrid will take place in the Camp Nou on the weekend of the 3rd/4th of April, while the return leg will take place on the 22nd/23rd of April of 2017.

As with all La Liga fixtures, the exact date and time that the match will take place is decided closer to the event, and is mostly dictated by television schedules, so if you plan to travel, make sure to give yourself a bit of time either side of the weekend just in case there's a change.

Elsewhere, there's plenty of interest in the arrival of CD Leganes in the top tier for the first time ever, as they begin their campaign with an away fixture against Celta de Vigo. Their first home fixture is a very tough match up against Atlético de Madrid on the weekend of the 28th of August.

Champions League winners Real Madrid will face their cross-city rivals at the Vicente Calderon for the first time in the league on the weekend of the 20th of November, as the home side look to exact revenge for their defeat in the final in Milan.
