Stuart Byrne on why he has plenty of confidence in Dundalk as Legia come to town

Stuart Byrne has plenty of confidence of Dundalk as their first day of destiny against Legia Warsaw arrives.

The Irish champions face the Polish side in the first leg at the Aviva Stadium with a place in the promised land of the Champions League group stages at stake.

"I'm not nervous at all. If it was anybody else, at any other time, I'd be nervous for them. But I'm not because I've got a lot of confidence in them, I really, really do," the former Shelbourne and Longford Town midfielder said on Off The Ball.

"Just from watching them, just from knowing some of the players. I was only speaking to some of the Dundalk players last Sunday at a charity event and just chatting to Dave McMillan. They're grounded guys. They've got really good attitudes. I really like the way they go about their business."

Stuey, who was part of a Shelbourne side which also got within a round of the Champions League group stages, sees them now as the "flagbearers for Irish football and can really achieve something enormous" against Legia over the two legs.

He also wants to see a passionate crowd in the Aviva to create an atmosphere that pushes Dundalk forward.

"If you're a Cork City fan or a Shelbourne fan or Bohemians fan, tomorrow night you're a Dundalk fan."
