Leicester City have spent more time in the top four than any other Premier League club over the last two seasons - but missed out on a top-four finish on both occasions.
Brendan Rodgers side had 242 days in the Premier League's top four this season, but saw a Champions League spot slip from their grasp on the final day.
They twice lost the lead in Sunday's home game against Tottenham, eventually losing 4-2.
After winning the FA Cup on Saturday, it comes as a blow to Rodgers and the club.
They also missed out last year after having been in the top four for most of the season.

In a game that produced plenty of talking points at the King Power Stadium, Leicester twice took the lead.
Jamie Vardy scored from the penalty spot on both occasions.
Spurs responded initially through Harry Kane to leave matters tied at 1-all at half-time, but Vardy's second strike appeared to put Leicester in the driving seat.
An own goal from Kasper Schmeichel brought the game back to level, before Gareth Bale scored twice late on to dash Leicester's hopes.
Offering his reaction post-match, Schmeichel was keen to look at the positives.
"Very raw at the moment, very disappointing," he said.
"Very strange game, decisions didn't go our way I thought.
"It's very disappointing at the moment but I think when we look back, we reflect, we've won the FA Cup this season, we've taken it again to the last day and I'd rather be doing that and missing out than sitting in mid-table and doing nothing."
The goalkeeper stressed the campaign was another step in the right direction for the club.
"There's been massive progression and again if you look at it we've won a major trophy and we've got more points than we had last season, so that's progression."
