The 40-year-old, who recently signed a contract extension to remain as manager of the Qatari club, received the news ahead of their match against Al-Khor later.
The World Cup and European Championships winner was not showing any symptoms of the virus and he'll now self-isolate for two weeks.
“Today I won’t be able to join my team on their comeback to the official competition,” Xavi announced via the club's social media accounts.
