"Chances are Solskjaer isn't the right man for the job" - Daniel Harris

Undergoing a disappointing dip in form, the scale of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's task at Manchester United has become sharply refocused.

Speaking on Friday's OTB AM, Daniel Harris acknowledged the prospect that Solskjaer may simply not be up to the task of suitably resurrecting the club.

"I would say that the chances are he is not the right man for the job," Harris stated, "because there are very few people existing in the world who could do this job and succeed at it."

Brought in on a temporary basis to replace the sacked Jose Mourinho, the former Manchester United forward was hired permanently in light of a terrific run of winning form; the apex of which was a Champions League defeat of Paris St. Germain.

However, since being confirmed as the long-term replacement for Mourinho at the end of March, Solskjaer has overseen three defeats in five games.

Things that seem too good to be true generally are too good to be true.

"Things that are too good to be true generally are too good to be true," Harris stated.

"It seems unlikely that you could be a high level player for United then turn up having managed Molde and Cardiff City and be a great manager.

Assessing the current state of affairs on the pitch, Harris concedes that there is perhaps little else Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could do to alter his side's poor run of form.

"I think what's happening at the moment is inevitable," Harris reasons, "because if United carried on as they were doing for the first few months when Solskjaer was the manager you'd be getting Championship [winning] form out of them."

"This is not a Championship [winning] team.

"If you look at the games they've lost I'd be more inclined to say, well which games do I think that they've been beaten in when it has been the fault of the manager rather than the players?

"I'm not sure this team, however any manager arranges it, is going to be able to go to the Nou Camp and get a result."

After suffering a Champions League exit at the hands of Barcelona mid-week, United's battle for top-4 in the Premier League will recommence when they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Sunday afternoon.
