Solskjaer calls for his players to produce the goods over Leicester in final league game

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes his team will finish the Premier League season in style when Manchester United face top-four rivals Leicester in hopes of securing a place in the Champions League next season.

Manchester United have one step left after impressively overcoming their worst start ever in a Premier League campaign. Solskjaer's side sat 14th back in October 2019.

However, a 13-game unbeaten run that dates back to January of this year has seen them rise to third place with just one game remaining.

Wednesday's 1-1 draw with David Moyes's West Ham put United back into the top-four for the first time since September 2019.

Since the return of the Premier League, Brendan Rodgers side has only managed to pick up nine points out of a possible 27. This has seen the Foxes drop from a comfortable third place in the league to fifth.

Manchester United will seal Champions League qualification next season if they avoid defeat on Sunday at an empty King Power Stadium.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Solskjaer said, "We're looking forward to the game, we've given ourselves a good chance of being in the Champions League next year, but we can't go into a game thinking about what the outcome can be.

"We want to go there and try and win the game."

Manchester United have not lost a match since their crushing 2-0 defeat away to Burnley last January. At that time United were fifth in the league, six points off the top-four.

This 13-match unbeaten run in the Premier League has been Solskjaer’s best ever league run as a manager. However, he knows the job is not yet over and cannot afford for that run to end against Leicester.

"Focus and concentration is very, very vital in football. When you play against quality teams, quality players, one lapse of concentration can hurt you.

"We're going to go into it with a strong frame of mind. It's not job done, we have got to this point and we have one more game in this season.

"That's this season, this is a journey for this team. This is one extra step on the journey for this team, which we've come a long way.

"Mentally I think we've shown more robustness, resilience, when we've lost the first goal in games, for example, but we've also shown the heights when everything's flowing, which you can't expect every time."
