The new SSE Airtricity League first division started last week. Shelbourne began their campaign under new manager Ian Morris by recording an unlikely win over Galway United.
The Reds found themselves 2-0 down early on but came back to win 3-2 away from home. The Dublin club are preparing for their first home game of the new campaign.
Cabinteely are the visitors to Tolka Park on Friday night and the club have released an electrifying hype video for the occasion.
The clever collaboration between Simon Crowe and Shane Dawson has yielded a wonderful 90 second whirlwind trip through Shelbourne history.
Shels hype video has raised the bar
Starting in Slatterys, the site of Shelbourne's founding in 1895, Dawson pounds the pavement of Dublin, at one point passing the iconic Poolbeg Chimneys, noting that Dublin is red and white.
Featuring two of the most talented players ever to grace a LOI pitch, Tony Sheridan and Wes Hoolahan, the pièce de résistance is a clever cameo from a Shels legend that has transcended LOI culture.
"I'm angry, Tony" is to League of Ireland fans what 'I dropped the screw in the tuna' is to 90's Nickelodeon fans, the split second appearance is brilliantly executed, the tone is perfect.
Bravo all.
One club unified by a common goal of success, 2019 is a time for new heroes.
