Manchester United have been dealt a huge setback in any potential Premier League title bid, after losing 2-1 at home to rock-bottom Sheffield United.
The Blades were in fine form and alert to every ball as they recorded their first league away win since December 2019.
It is a huge blow to Manchester United who, in somewhat unexpected fashion, found themselves top of the Premier League just a few days ago.
Naturally, social media was the port of call for both frustrated United fans and gloating opposition fans.

Any good underage coaches out there?
Really struggling with our Under 8’s defending, just not at the level I would have hoped for... https://t.co/WY3UVXkCOm— Nathan Murphy (@nathanmurf) January 27, 2021
I can’t watch United with Martial in the team. The lack of effort is sickening . The notions . Belongs at PSG. #MUNSHU

MUFC 1 Sheffield United 2. Big blow for MUFC. Never got going. Blades dogged in defence. Phil Jagielka, 64, who grew up closer to Old Trafford than any player on the pitch, MOM.

If Man United got so many "wins of champions" lately, what was that?
A particularly bad defeat just as they time a title challenge, especially given how streaky they've previously been.— Miguel Delaney (@MiguelDelaney) January 27, 2021
Sir Alex Ferguson's here and that Sheffield United performance might remind him of the 'obscene' effort from relegated West Ham at Upton Park in 1992. Sheffield United still destined for the Championship, which makes this such a demoralising defeat for #mufc. They were poor.

Embarrassing defending. Deserved nothing from that. https://t.co/fUEfvMKzJU

Manchester United - Sheffield United
Asked what he expected from the match beforehand, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked what he expected from the match.
“Nothing other than what you always get against them," he told the club's website.
"You get a hard game and you’ve got a team that is fighting for the manager. They’ve had a tough season this season, but you can still see that they’ve improved lately and they stay true to their principles and the manager’s principles.
"The tight game we had at Bramall Lane isn’t something we don’t expect now; it’ll be a similar type of game.”
Solskjaer also gave his thoughts on the loss of Chelsea manager Frank Lampard.
“The one thing I know with Frank is that he won’t want any of us to feel sorry for him. It’s not for me to comment really too much on what happens at different clubs, but they had a dip of form and that’s probably the first dip they’ve had under Frank and they made that decision.
"I know I’ve had a few dips in form here at United, but we’ve had the long-term insight all the time. Apart from that, it’s always sad to see someone losing their job.”
