Shamrock Rovers striker Graham Burke believes that they can be a success in the League of Ireland this season and wants to eventually get back to Republic of Ireland duty.
Burke spoke to Nathan Murphy on The Football Show about this season in the domestic league.
"Every season, with the structure of the club, [winning the title] has to be an ambition," said Burke.
"When I first came in, I knew that you might not be challenging for it but we are properly going for it this year.
"Last year, you could tell that Rovers were coming and now we are beating the likes of Dundalk, who have been such an amazing team over the last couple of years.
"It would have taken a special team to go on and beat the likes of Dundalk.
"The team at Shamrock Rovers is very talented and you just saw on Friday night the players that are on display.
"We will be pushing for the league; someone has to come on and take on Dundalk and I think that we have the squad to do that."
Ireland return?
Burke is also hopeful in his personal ambitions.
He scored for the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly against the USA in June 2018 and would like to eventually be considered for a return to the international setup.
"I don't really think about it [in terms of targeting an Ireland return.]
"My focus would be playing well for Shamrock Rovers.
"But when you have experienced it before, there is always a part of you that thinks why could you not do it again? Why can't that be an ambition?
"I always thought to myself whether I would be able to play with these boys and whether I could mix it with them.
"I came away thinking 'Yeah, I could' and that would be an ambition of mine to go and do it again.
"If you have that taste of it then you have that burning desire to do it again. But I will just have to play well for Shamrock Rovers and whether something like that comes then you would be proud."
