Sampdoria club president Massimo Ferrero has hinted that his club would be willing to take a risk on Mario Balotelli.
The striker returned to Liverpool after a year on loan at AC Milan but is expected to depart Anfield if a willing buyer can be found.
Ferrero believes Sampdoria can put Balotelli back on the right track in the same way that they did with the forward's former Italy strike partner Antonio Cassano.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, Ferrero said: "Balotelli is Balotelli’s own worst enemy. Just like Cassano is Cassano’s own worst enemy. He could relaunch at a passionate club like ours, but I think he’s still got mixed feelings. I’ve tried to tell him to come to Samp because he’s a great talent."
