Ryan Giggs says Swansea "did not meet my ambitions"

Ryan Giggs has said that Swansea City did not meet his ambition as a manager as he hit out at claims he was snubbed for Bob Bradley.

The former Manchester United star was reportedly overlooked as a managerial candidate by Swansea after an "underwhelming interview" for the role, but the Welshman has now given his own account of the story.

"I met with them [Swansea] a couple of times but in the end there was just mixed messages from the football side and the ownership side of the club. I just felt their ambitions did not really match mine".

Giggs, who was in the running to replace recently sacked Swansea boss Francisco Guidolin, was up against Bayern Munich assistant manager Paul Clement and Villareal boss Marcelino, but the Swans opted for former USA coach Bill Bradley.

Having left Manchester United during the summer, where he'd served as assistant manager to Louis Van Gaal for the previous two seasons, as well as a short stint as interim manager, Giggs is still searching for a full-time management post for himself and his backroom staff, which is said to include former teammate Nicky Butt.
