Zabivaka, a wolf, has been revealed as the worthy successor to Fuleco, a Brazilian armadillo. Zabivaka defeated an unnamed tiger and cat, with over 50% of the vote.
Unveiled in Moscow, the wolf "radiates fun, charm and confidence" according to FIFA.
According to FIFA; "he is charming, confident and social and has always dreamt of becoming a football star." Unsurprisingly Zabivaka's "favourite sporting pastime is playing football.2
Thankfully for the players and fans travelling to Russia, "he is always fun to be around – as the joker in the pack, he knows how to make others laugh."
In what may establish a precedent in football; "He has taken to wearing cool sports glasses when he’s in action; he believes they give him special targeting powers on the pitch."
We will be sick of the sight of him by 2018.
