Roy Keane leaves Nottingham Forest

Former Republic of Ireland captain Roy Keane has left his assistant managerial role at Nottingham Forest.

The club confirmed the news on Sunday.

Commenting on his decision to leave, Keane said: "Working with Martin over the last few years has been a magnificent experience, one of my greatest in football both as a player and a coach and one I want to personally thank him for."

Keane joined his former club as assistant to Martin O'Neill in January 2019. The club finished last season 9th on 66 points - eight points off the play-off spots.

It is believed Keane made the move to focus on his own managerial career.
