Reports: Arsene Wenger wants to stay at Arsenal

Despite pressure from a vocal section on Arsenal fans, reports claim that Arsene Wenger is set to remain as Arsenal manger.

Wenger's contract with the club ends this summer, with a two-year deal on the table for the Frenchman. The Arsenal board have allowed the 67-year-old to have the final say on his future.

According to the Daily Mirror, Wenger has told the board he wants to stay at the club. After Saturday's defeat to West Brom, Wenger admitted he made up his mind about his future, but did not make it public.

While the agreement will have to be mutual, the future of some of Arsenal's key players may have a significant say on Wenger's future. Players like Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil may leave the club, with Wenger in charge, but could be persuaded to stay, with a change in management.

Wenger is the longest-serving manager in English football. He is almost ten-years ahead of Exeter City's Paul Tisdale, who is currently in second place.

With over 20 years experience at Highbury and the Emirates Stadium, Wenger is over 16-years longer in the managerial role than Eddie Howe. The duo, along with Sean Dyche are the only Premier League managers with the same club for more than four years.

In his two decades with the team, Wenger has won three Premier League titles and six FA Cups. European glory has eluded Arsenal. The Frenchman led the team to the Champions League final in 2006, but they lost to Barcelona 2-1.
