Whatever happens by season's end, Liverpool have had an outstanding season.
If they can win all their final games, they will get to a 97 point high-water mark.
Yet the remarkable nature of this season means Jurgen Klopp's side could still miss out on the Premier League title even if they get to 97.
The title destination is currently in Manchester City's hands after they won their game in hand against Manchester United last night.
And if they win their final three games, Liverpool's own potential wins will become academic.
However, there could still be a twist or two to come for both sides between now and May 12th.
Inconsistency
Liverpool know a thing or two about that. Last time they came this close to winning a first title since 1990, it slipped away (literally... sorry) in 2013-14.
A couple of poor seasons followed and that's been the case over the last 30 years. Some finishes near the summit and then slipping back well into the pack.
So we're going to test your memory on this week's OTB web quiz. Can you remember which league positions Liverpool finished in during the Premier League era?
Check out the quiz below or click here if doesn't display correctly. And one unnecessary hint... you won't need to use "1".
