Leeds United have 'got the ick' since Marcelo Bielsa departed and they are going to need a reset regardless of whether they are in the Championship or the Premier League next season, according to BBC journalist Adam Pope.
Sam Allardyce is reportedly close to formalising an agreement to make a surprise return to Premier League management and succeed Javi Gracia at relegation-threatened Leeds.
However, this would be the fourth change of manager since Marcelo Bielsa was sacked at the tail end of last season.
Speaking on The Football Show, Adam Pope discussed the manner in which Leeds have changed their style multiple times since Marcelo Bielsa left the club.
"You have a style of play that they went away from in Bielsa," Pope said, "to the Red Bull-style, a narrow style without using much width, which was frantic and chaotic and very frenetic.
"There are players designed to do that. The manager goes, players get injured, others arrive, they don't get what's been sold on the tin to them, and so they look all at sea.
"This is the fourth change of manager there'll be this season, or coach or coaching style. How are they going to implement a philosophy going forward? How are they going to grow the club?"
Leeds need a reset
Leeds have collected one point from the past possible 15 and are 17th in the Premier League, level on 30 points with third-bottom Nottingham Forest.
Relegation could be ruinous for Leeds, who fear it may jeopardise their long-mooted takeover by the San Francisco-based 49ers Enterprises.
Regardless of whether they can salvage this season and avoid relegation, Pope believes Leeds need a massive reset.
"They are going to need to reset," Pope said. "In either division they are going to have reset now, regardless of what happens over the next four games.
"There's not one shred of what was left behind of the Marcelo Bielsa era, that great time. I know it ended badly. There's still a debate about whether he should have gone or not. But, there's nothing left there.
"I described it today as: everybody fell back in love with football and Leeds United, those that weren't in love with it already. They've got the ick now. They just don't like it."
