Pochettino would be snapped up by big clubs | Charlie Eccleshare on Spurs boss

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is still hot property despite Spurs' downturn in form, according to Charlie Eccleshare of The Athletic.

Charlie joined The Football Show on Off The Ball to discuss Pochettino's recent woes, which see Spurs ensconced in ninth position and struggling to get momentum in this season's Champions League.

"His reputation is well entrenched now. He has done such an amazing job over such a long period of time," said Charlie.

"Even it were to go horrendously and they were to lose their next five matches and he were to get sacked, I think that most clubs would be shrewd enough to say 'something clearly wasn't right'.

"His reputation is pretty formidable now and he could get one of those big jobs [in Manchester United or Real Madrid] that could be available fairly soon."

On the wider concerns around Pochettino's demeanour - namely the barbed comments that often emanate from his press conferences - Charlie had a lot to say from his Tottenham beat.

"He is normally the ideal club man and toe the party line, but he does occasionally come out with these bombshells that he could leave.

"When he said in the summer that he should go back to being the head coach rather than the manager - that was a spiky, pointed thing to say.

"It betrayed a frustration that he didn't feel that it was the summer that he hoped for. There has been nothing subsequently, but that felt telling.

"That would be understandable. They have both done incredible jobs, but I can see that when you are Pochettino and have done the job you have; to come so close and feel that you are not getting that final push would be very frustrating."
