Pep Guardiola believes Arsenal would be making a "big mistake" if they decide to sack manager Mikel Arteta.
Manchester City heaped more misery on the Gunners boss with a 4-1 win in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup last night.
It was Arsenal's biggest defeat in a domestic cup competition in 22 years and they've picked up only 14 points from their first 14 games in the Premier League this season.
"I'm pretty sure they are going to trust him," Guardiola said of his former assistant's situation following last night's game at the Emirates.
"I know his incredible quality as a human being and especially as a manager, how he is involved in everything. It's just a question of time and he will do well.
"Football changes in one week so quick. I can speak about my experience alongside him - one of the most incredible, successful teams in English history we had, and he was part of this success.
"It would not be possible without him. To create something like this you need time like I had in my first season."
Arteta meanwhile has backed his players to turn things around quickly.
"There isn't any other way. It's a really hard result to take, but we have to look at things that can help us for the future."
