Graeme Souness believes that perspective is necessary when we look at the sporting calendar chaos due to coronavirus prevention measures.
Souness was discussing the likely impact of coronavirus on the sport during Virgin Media Sport's coverage of Tottenham Hotspur against Red Bull Leipzig on Tuesday night.
"I think that the logical way to look at this is to play behind closed doors. The bigger picture is not about football, the bigger picture is that people are going to die," said Souness.
"Trying to look at it logically, and we are not medics, I think that the games will end up being played behind closed doors.
"It is only a matter of time before a player ends up with a virus and then that club will be closed down. They will be put in isolation.
"I think, ultimately, we will see games behind closed doors more and more and then, eventually, it will come to a standstill. That is inevitable.
"What is the best case scenario? That no footballer gets it and they can get the season over and done with, and the cup competitions, by the end of the season.
"That ain't going to happen."
