Former Fulham and Portsmouth midfielder Papa Bouba Diop has passed away aged 42.
Following reports of his death from an unspecified illness, his former club RC Lens tweeted a tribute to the Senegalese.
"It is with great sadness that Racing Club de Lens has just learned of the demise of its former player Papa Bouba Diop , at the age of 42.
"We offer our deepest condolences to his loved ones."
Papa Bouba Diop
Diop was a key player for Portsmouth in their run to the 2008 FA Cup win.
He also played for Fulham between 2004 and 2007, earning the nickname 'Wardrobe' as he was such a big presence in Fulham's midfield.

Portsmouth sent a message of condolence on their social media.
