It's fair to say the entire bidding process for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar has not gone smoothly.
But there may be some resolution in sight as FIFA move closer to confirming a World Cup in November and December.
A task-force has concluded that it is the only viable date for the tournament to take place given that it is nigh on impossible to play it in its traditional summer slot due to the high temperatures.
But European clubs are already talking about compensation for the upheaval the calendar change will cause.
"They want to be paid and that's a shame really, because for people who follow the calendar as it is and enjoy the calendar, there is more to it than money. Unfortunately the choice of Qatar, the world's richest country battling the richest clubs for when the World Cup will be staged, that's where it is now, and it's all a bit sad," Bloomberg sports reporter Tariq Panja told Off The Ball tonight.
Panja suggests that a World Cup in Qatar will suit FIFA as there will be little dissent to any proposed projects.
