Former Ireland defender Paddy Mulligan feels Roy Keane has nothing to apologise for regarding critical press conference comments about some of the current Boys in Green squad.
The ex-Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Brom full-back, who also shared memories of the Muhammad Ali era, joined Oisin Langan on the Rewind podcast and gave his take on one of the most talked about points from the past week.
Keane had been typically forthright about the performance of individual players after the disappointing defeat to Belarus in Cork, a result which was not the ideal build up to Euro 2016 - granted that it was a friendly - with one quip about Aiden McGeady not getting the most out of his career garnering column inches.
Kevin Kilbane was one ex-international who thought Keane made an error in being so critical publicly.
"I don't know why Roy Keane is apologising to the players for being critical of them because I think he was 100% right in what he was saying," said Paddy.
"McGeady hasn't shown up in a long, long time for the Irish team and Daryl Murphy should have been playing an awful lot better and they're not doing that. So lads, just take it on the chin. And I think Roy Keane was wrong to apologise as well. There are his principles gone out the window."
