Ever since Qatar was surprisingly awarded the right to host the 2022 World Cup, it has had to contend with a string of issues from the treatment of migrant workers to allegations of corruption in the bidding process.
The latest allegations made by The Sunday Times claims that Qatari and former FIFA executive Mohamed Bin Hammam paid bungs to a number of officials in order to help his country win the 2022 vote.
With FIFA's chief ethics investigator Michael Garcia set to present his findings, the future of the 2022 World Cup remains unclear.
Well, in order, to get a clearer picture of the situation, Off The Ball spoke to Nick Harris of sportingintelligence.com.
He would be surprised if the latest allegations are not touched upon in Garcia's report.
"Garcia is working inside FIFA's ethics committee and if there's something inside FIFA that he should have access to, then he will already had access to the material, I'm sure," said Harris, who believes that he is taking this seriously.
"There are enough serious questions over the whole process. To a layman it would suggest that the rules were broken all over the shop during this."
Harris predicts that the tournament could end up in the USA in the result of a revote on the 2022 bids because they finished second to Qatar and also appear to be a safe bet for FIFA.
But he thinks Sepp Blatter will be unaffected, especially as the FIFA president did not vote or really want Qatar to get the World Cup.
