Mourinho furious with FA staff after The Sun publishes Rooney photos on celebratory night out

The Football Association has reminded England players of their responsibility to "behave appropriately" after late-night photos emerged of captain Wayne Rooney celebrating their win over Scotland.

It is understood Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is angry that FA staff were with Rooney as he posed with guests at the team hotel early on Sunday morning.

A spokesperson for the player says he was enjoying a night off and didn't break rules.

And Sky Sports report their sources as saying that Mourinho had no problem with the premise of Rooney "relaxing on a night off".

The photos appeared in The Sun newspaper.

Rooney has only recently returned to the Manchester United starting XI in the Premier League, starting against Swansea City.

Previously to that, he had not been afforded a start in the league since mid-September after being dropped for under-par form.

He has scored just once this season, although he has managed four assists for a United side that sit 6th in the top flight, six points off fourth place Arsenal.

Mourinho's side take on the Gunners in Saturday's early kick off when the Premier League resumes after the international break.
