More bad news for Sunderland as Adnan Januzaj ruled out for a "minimum of six weeks"

Sunderland have garnered just one point from their opening six games in the Premier League and even in this early stage of proceedings, manager David Moyes admitted that the club is in a relegation.

Clubs floating around the bottom half of the table usually suffer from more than their fair share of bad luck and the Black Cats are no exception.

The club today confirmed that they will be without on-loan Manchester United attacker Adnan Januzaj for a minimum of six weeks. The 21-year-old, a favourite of Moyes during his time at the helm of United, picked up an ankle injury during his side's 3-2 defeat at home to Crystal Palace over the weekend.

Sunderland threw away a two-goal lead, both coming courtesy of Jermain Defoe, and conceded an injury time goal which cost them a valuable three points.

Januzaj "underwent a scan on Tuesday"  which confirmed that he suffered ankle ligament damage and will miss games against West Brom, fellow strugglers Stoke City and the visit of Arsenal at the end of October.
