Mick Cooke's LOI Premier Division predictions

As another Friday of League of Ireland action arrives, Cork City are going for 11 wins from 11 but their fixture against in form Bray Wanderers is just among the highlights to come.

As always this season, former Drogheda United Mick Cooke has previewed and predicted the fixtures in the top flight.

 Bohemians vs Finn Harps

Eighth and ninth respectively, Finn Harps and Bohs are just above the relegation zone heading into a crucial fixture at Dalymount Park with both sides hoping to put space between themselves and the bottom three.

"For me, last week Harps were the surprise of the weekend losing at home to Drogheda 2-0," says Mick.

"Obviously Bohs' defeat to Dundalk was more expected."

Prediction: "On both teams' current form, certainly I would go for a draw on this one."

Cork City vs Bray Wanderers

Cork have been unstoppable up to now but face a Bray side who are third, level on points with second placed Dundalk and nine behind the leaders.

Mick says: "Amazingly Bray have got off to a brilliant start, winning seven and losing three. But the worrying factor for Bray is that they have conceded 17 goals and they're about to tackle the top scorers in the league at a moment and a Cork team that has only conceded four goals. So I think this will be a very difficult task for Bray."

Prediction: "I would go for a home win for Cork based on the form of Sean Maguire and the rest of the Cork team with 10 wins out of 10 which is an incredible start."

Derry City vs St Patrick's Athletic

Derry picked up a point against Limerick last time out but Pats remain down in the bottom three after 10 games.

"I've said previously that I think Pats will get out of trouble but I think they'll have to wait another week and I think this is the one where Derry might bounce back and get their first win."

Prediction: "A Derry win in this one."

Gerard Lyttle

Drogheda United vs Sligo Rovers

Sligo Rovers have a new manager in the shape of Gerard Lyttle and the 10th place side now face a Drogheda United side who are three points above them.

"It's a tight one to call and certainly Sligo performed reasonably well last weekend in their first match under their new manager, albeit he was in the stands," says Mick.

"He's had a week to work with them now and it certainly brings a new impetus to teams when a new manager comes in and it gives them a lift."

Prediction: "I will go for a Sligo away win."

Galway United vs Dundalk

With Galway United still rock bottom, one would expect a victory for the reigning champions.

"Galway would need to perform to the best of their abilities in this game to get a draw," says Mick.

"Dundalk bounced back very well last week after their defeat to Bray with a convincing 2-0 win over Bohemians. I just think they have too much firepower for Galway. It's going to be a long summer for Galway I think."

Prediction: "With Dundalk bouncing back to winning ways last week, I think they will continue and get three points away from home."

Shamrock Rovers vs Limerick

Limerick remain fourth in the table with the season about to hit the third-of-the-way-mark and face a Shamrock Rovers side who suffered a chastening loss to Bray Wanderers last Friday.

"Rovers have gone down the route of youth and I don't know how patient the fans are going to be," says Mick.

"To be where they are already in the season, they've played 10 and lost six already which is an amazing number of games to lose in your first 10.

"Limerick have conceded too many goals and this will be a very, very tight game with two very footballing team."

Prediction:  "I would see this one as a draw."
