Mauricio Pochettino: Tottenham are in the title chase

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has praised his team's reaction following a bad injury to midfielder Harry Winks.

He was stretchered off in the first half of their game against Burnley after falling heavily on his ankle.

Spurs went on to win 2-0 at Turf Moor - moving to within seven points of Premier League leaders Chelsea - and Pochettino says they responded well after losing Winks.

"That moment was a big hit for us and the team, but it was very important that the reaction was good in the second half, the performance was good," he said.

Chelsea were beaten 2-1 at home to strugglers Crystal Palace and now look set to pursue Antonio Conte's side until the very end of the season.

"I'm very proud because it was a really tough game for us," he told BBC Sport. "We showed great character and I'm very proud and pleased because the performance in the second half was very good.

"This win is massive for us - we have to be there if Chelsea fail and we are there. We are fighting for the Premier League.

"When you reduce the gap to seven points it's completely different to 10 points - we just have to be there if Chelsea fail and want to be there until the end of the season."
