Manchester United's first XI includes Luke Shaw, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan

Jose Mourinho's reign as Manchester United manager has been dominated by incoming transfers and the possibility of signing Paul Pogba.

Now, it is time for the former Chelsea boss to do what he was brought in to do. And that is manage Manchester United's first team.

United face Wigan today in a friendly and he has handed debuts to Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan with James Wilson, Luke Shaw and Memphis Depay also set to start. Ander Herrera also starts along with Michael Carrick in midfield with Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinstieger not available yet after their involvement in Euro 2016.

Impressive Dutch defender, Timothy Fosu-Mensah starts and could be a player who really excels under Mourinho after impressing during Louis van Gaal's last season in charge at Old Trafford.

Speculation linking Memphis Depay away from the club might be allayed given the fact that he starts today and a couple of good performances could see him in a good position to earn plenty of playing time next season.

Juan Mata misses out as rumours of his future at Manchester United coming to an end will only ramp up the less we see him.

The game takes place at Old Trafford and kicks off at 1.30pm
