Manchester United in negotiations to sign Mexican forward

Manchester United are in talks to sign a fourth player this summer as negotiations have started for Pachuca's Hirving Lozano.

Jose Mourinho has acted quickly in his new role and identified four areas of concern heading into next season. Attacking midfield was one of them and following the news of Henrikh Mkhitaryan's arrival, it seems he wants to add more speed on the wings.

Lozano can play on either wing but is most comfortable on the left where he will likely face stiff competition from Anthony Martial.

“Is there already a negotiation with that team? Yes.” Pachuca’s president Andres Fassi told ESPN Digital before adding: “There is still nothing (finalised).”

He had previously confirmed that approaches had been made but could not speak on the issue due to confidentiality agreements. Fassi says his club maintain good relationships with several teams in Europe and did not want to breach any of the confidentiality. His admission that negotiations are ongoing with Man United suggest they are deep into the process.

United have already signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly as Jose Mourinho turns Louis van Gaal's side into a team that can play his rigid 4-2-3-1. The news also comes as a death knoll for Memphis Depay, who could be on his way out of Old Trafford after one dismal season.
