'Wolves more likely to get top 4 than Manchester United' | Damien Delaney

Damien Delaney explained why he feels Wolves are likely to beat Manchester United to the Champions League, after watching Chelsea take one step closer to the top four.

Barring a successful appeal by Manchester City against their European ban, this season's Champions League spots will go down to fifth place and Delaney doesn't back either Manchester United or Tottenham to do what is needed.

As for Chelsea, while Delaney wouldn't say they are 'home and hosed', he thinks they will be where they need to be.

"I think that they have put themselves in a position where they can maybe lose and draw two games; the ones behind them aren't winning seven out of eight games. Manchester United aren't doing that. Spurs or Arsenal aren't doing that."

Delaney feels that it might be an unlikelier contender that steals a march in the final eight matches of the season, chiefly because of their status.

"It might be Crystal Palace, Sheffield United or Wolverhampton because maybe they will come under the radar to put that type of a run together.

"But it would be a surprise. All Chelsea need to do now is maintenance; keep tipping away with wins, a couple of draws. They do have a little bit of a cushion if they need it in the upcoming games."

Manchester United problems

Attention also turned to Manchester United as they look to whether Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes can form a fruitful partnership - but problems may be elsewhere.

"I think that they will find a way to play together - scoring goals is the problem for Manchester United.

"Martial gets away with it - he is lazy, immobile and very disinterested for large portions of the game. Even the other night, I was watching him and he was very static.

"There is not a whole lot of creativity in the full-back positions; Aaron Wan-Bissaka is a very good defender but would he put in the numbers of crosses from the likes of Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso?

"There is enough creativity with the likes of Pogba and Fernandes, but are there going to be enough people to get on the end of things?"

As for Wolves, Delaney explained why he feels they are dark horses.

"If there is a challenger to come for it, then it will probably be Wolves - everyone is focusing on Spurs, United or Arsenal.

"If there is any team that could put a run together then I think it's them, they could put pressure on Chelsea."
