Aaron Wan-Bissaka officially signs for Manchester United

Manchester United have confirmed today that they've signed right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

The deal for the England Under-21 is worth £50 million.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut for Palace last year after a number of years in their youth set-up. He joined the academy at Selhurst Park when he was just 11-years-old.

He has agreed a five-year contract that will earn him up to £80,000 a week.

The defender was on £10,000 a week with the London side which made him the lowest-paid player in Palace's first-team squad.

Wan-Bissaka, who is of Congolese descent, unsuccessfully approached Palace manager Roy Hodgson about a potential loan move in 2018 and then with 12 senior players out injured, his first-team debut came on 25 February.

After that debut against Spurs, he faced Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool in three of his next four appearances.

"I wasn't nervous because I have been waiting for this for a long time," said the then 20-year-old.

He did admit that playing against United was "a little daunting" - but little more than a year after saying it felt a "big achievement" to be playing against Paul Pogba he is now a team-mate of the Frenchman.

United are paying £45m up front, making Wan-Bissaka the club's fifth-biggest signing, behind Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Angel di Maria and Fred.

His transfer was delayed by final negotiations between the clubs, which ended with the Eagles securing a 10% sell-on clause if Wan-Bissaka leaves United for more than £50m.
