'Manchester United have bottled it' | Jamie Carragher on MUFC title talk

Jamie Carragher believes that Manchester United have 'bottled it' in the race for the Premier League title.

Carragher spoke ahead of Liverpool's clash with Manchester City at Anfield, and the former Liverpool defender believes his old club are the only club that can challenge City.

Jamie Carragher on Manchester United

"I think it's only Liverpool who can stop them because I don't think Manchester United even fancy it," Carragher told Sky Sports.

"Listening to the comments of the Manchester United manager yesterday, and Roy [Keane] and I had this discussion on the back of the Arsenal game last week.

"Manchester United feel like they are just happy to be involved. I can't believe it, I really can't.

"This is a unique season in that Liverpool have no centre-backs and Manchester City have no strikers, De Bruyne is out today.

"We're talking about how great a season Manchester City have had, but last season we were saying they were off the boil - they are only three points better off this season. It still shows that they are not the City of two or three years ago.

"I think Manchester United in the last few weeks have almost bottled it, they have got there and got so excited that they are there that they have almost talked themselves out of it.

"I don't think there's much belief there; I'm not sure there's much belief with Liverpool, in terms of the support. I'm not sure about the players and the staff.

"But if they were to win today, it might give Manchester City a bit of a scare. I wouldn't say it prolongs it because there is a long way to go but I think it is imperative for Liverpool to win today if they are to have any chance of catching City at any stage."
