'I think Salah and his agent are playing a little game with Liverpool'

One bright spark in a difficult season for Liverpool, the emerging saga surrounding Mohamed Salah and his future at the club remains uncertain.

Liverpool's solitary goal-scorer on a night they were defeated 3-1 by Real Madrid in the Champions League, it took the Egyptian's tally to 27 for the season.

As Gareth Roberts of The Anfield Wrap explained to OTB Sports on Wednesday night, he remains a consistent source of goals despite Liverpool's struggles this season.

A few months shy of his 29th birthday, it has recently appeared that Salah may have his eye on life beyond the club where he became a Champions League and Premier League winner.

"No one really seems to know," admitted Roberts of what Salah is likely to do come the season's send. "Him doing these interviews with the Spanish press is interesting."

Notably reluctant to engage the media all that often, it has been the source of some confusion on Merseyside then that the Egyptian has recently conducted interviews with Spanish publications.

Furthermore, Salah's agent Ramy Abbas Issa has been accused of stoking the embers of some discontent around his client's future also.

"What's really interesting about it is that he never stops for the Liverpool press or the UK press," Roberts pointed out. "Famously in mixed zones he picks up his pace or he will be on his phone.

"The fact that he is choosing to do them with Spanish press and says what he says, him and his agent must know what that will result in."

Although it remains unclear what will happen beyond this season, Roberts is of the belief that the former Chelsea and Roma man may just be looking to feather his nest a bit.

"I like to think personally he just would like another contract," he reasoned, "a big contract, big wages and have that security.

"While that isn't there, I like to think [he and his agent] are playing a little game, but I would like Liverpool to get that sorted."
