Heartbreak could be on the cards yet again for Liverpool as the coronavirus threatens to throw the rest of the Premier League season into jeopardy.
Jurgen Klopp's side are just four wins away from lifting the Premier League trophy for the first time and winning their first English domestic league in 30 years.
The Reds have a massive 22-point lead over current champions Manchester City at the top of the table and could be crowned champions as early as the 21st of March against Crystal Palace at Anfield.
With the coronavirus or Covid-19 now in the UK a number of sporting events could fall victim to its rapid spread.
A number of games in various sports have already been affected by the crisis including Italy's Serie A, rugby's PRO 14 and Ireland's Six Nations game with Italy that was scheduled for Dublin next Saturday.
A report in today's Telegraph suggests that Premier League fixtures could now be in doubt as authorities attempt to control the spread of the virus.
Should the British Government order the cancellation of all sporting events in the UK for more than two months the season effectively would not be finished out.
With the unprecedented nature of such a situation, it is likely crisis talks would take place to determine whether previous results would be allowed to stand or not, or if the campaign would be declared null and void.
The report goes further to detail that 'no specific regulation' is in place should such a scenario play out that all 38 top-flight games are incomplete and it could see all three teams in the relegation zone reprieved.
