Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool claimed the World Club World Cup championship earlier this evening in Qatar.
The scousers beat Copa Libertadore's champions Flamengo 1-0 after extra-time. Roberto Firmino's extra-time winner completed a successful trip to the middle east for the Premier League leaders.
Brazil's Firmino dispatched a Sadio Mane cross to cut inside and finish past a hapless Diego Alves in the Flamengo net in the 99th minute.
In all honest the first-half was a largely uneventful affair with both sides failing to register a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.
Flamengo enjoyed 58% of the possession and Liverpool ended the opening half not happy with some of the referring decisions at the break.
Three minutes after the interval Klopp's side rattled the post after Firmino flicked the ball over beautifully only to see the ball crash against the inside of the post.
Mane thought he had a penalty with a minute to go in normal time after going down from a Rafinha challenge from behind.
The former Bayern Munich defender was reprieved after VAR showed that the incident happened just on the edge of the box. Rafinha made no contact with Senegal international. No free-kick or penalty was awarded.
Lincoln missed a sitter with only a minute remaining in the second-period of extra-time. The Brazilian striker blasted the ball high and over the bar from five yards out to end Gabriel Jesus' sides chances of forcing the game into spot kicks.
The victory add to Liverpool's European and Super Cup titles, completing a memorable season for the reds.
It was the first time the Merseysiders have claimed the title of 'World Champions'.
