Cork woman Emily O’Sullivan was scammed out of more than €400 as she attempted to secure tickets for her family to watch Ireland in action at the Euros.
The mum of four had been saving to put together enough money for her family to go on holiday for the first time in years, and as part of the trip tried to get two tickets to see Ireland vs. Belgium on Saturday 18th June.
She told The Pat Kenny Show on Wednesday that she looked for tickets on what she thought “looked like a legitimate site” after she was unsuccessful when she applied through UEFA.
Emily added that she even called the number supplied to check out the company, and "it all sounded great. I spoke to a man and paid for the tickets over the phone."
However, when the tickets failed to arrive on the specified date, she went back to the website and found that the the domain name had been put up for sale and the phone number was no longer in service.
She said that the most difficult moment was telling her children what had happened. “It’s not even about the money anymore. I feel like I’ve broken a promise to my kids,” she said. “Holidays are not cheap and I worked long hard hours to put this together.”
On Thursday, Pat Kenny spoke to Emily and her son Byron to tell them the good news that both would be going to the game in Bordeaux along with her other three children Darah, Izzy and Heidi.
