LISTEN: Mourinho announces Chelsea will win the Premier League

Jose Mourinho got fairly riled at a press conference this afternoon, so riled in fact that the Portuguese declared his Chelsea team will win the Premier League - just to make his point to a journalist.

Chelsea are still top of the Premier League following their mid-week elimination by Paris Saint-Germain from the Champions League.

The French outfit, despite having star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent off after just 30 minutes, prevailed on away goals after extra-time at Stamford Bridge.

It was a humbling experience for the normally cocksure Mourinho, who watched on as 10 of his team surrounded the referee and pestered him to issue the Swede a red card.

Today, the Blues boss was calm and composed during questions until one reporter asked what he felt about Ibrahimovic's assertion that "11 babies" had surrounded him following his mistimed tackle on Oscar.

It was a challenge that most observers felt warranted a caution at most.

"I keep saying to you that I didn't comment on what the others say," responded Mourinho, "because I have my own opinions about things and I don't need to know what other people think.

"My point is that if you want to speak about Champions League, you have to go to [Arsenal manager Arsene] Wenger or to [Manchester City manager] Manuel Pellegrini because they are in the Champions League.

"They are representing England in the Champions League. They have one match to play and to win to go to the quarter-finals. I hope that [they do], I wish that.

"If you want to speak about Champions League, you have to speak to them."

Mourinho, who said his squad had a "positive" and vocal meeting after their exit from Europe, added: "We are not in the Champions League. Were out of the Champions League. We play matches. We lost zero but we were not good enough."

It was then that one journalist pursued him on his players' behaviour when badgering the ref. Mourinho said: "If they surround the referee, we are charged, and we have to pay a fine. If we do that, the players pay the fine.

"We have eight or nine months of competition, we were charged once. And we paid that. It's as simple as that.

"Go to the Premier League and see how how many teams were charged and how many times, I don't know."

When asked about his post-match comments regarding him saying that his players couldn't mentally handle the pressure, Mourinho was visibly irked:

"It is always my responsibility," he said. "The people that lost, the people that was out of the Champions League last Wednesday, is the same people that is top of the Premier League; is the same people that won the Carling Cup, is the same people that is going to win the Premier League. We are exactly the same people."
