Kieran Tierney out for at least six weeks with knee injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admits it's unclear whether Kieran Tierney will be fit in time for the start of Euro 2020.

The Scotland full-back suffered knee ligament damage in the Gunners' 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last weekend and he's set for at least six weeks on the sidelines.

“We have to make sure first that he doesn’t need any surgery, which it doesn’t look like," Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said ahead of their Europa League quarter-final against Slavia Prague.

“The timeframe will be up to six weeks. It could have been worse because the action looks quite scary, but he looks a bit better and the damage was not that bad, so at the end of the day it is not the bad news we could have been waiting for.

“We are going to have to go day by day and see how Kieran is feeling, then when he gets close to playing time and how he is feeling we will make that decision.”

Tierney will face a race to be fit to represent Scotland at this summer's pandemic delayed European Championships and Arteta says his availability will become clearer in the coming weeks.
