Burnley defender Kevin Long was called up to Martin O'Neill's Republic of Ireland squad earlier this week.
The former Cork City defender was named in an extended squad for June's three games against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria. He could make his debut in the coming weeks.
Despite the honour of getting his first international call up, he may have to miss his brother's wedding if he keeps his place in the squad. Daniel Long gets married next month, but he may have to do so now without his best man.
"I was also supposed to be going to Marbella with the family, but I'm sure they won't mind if I get a cap" the 26-year-old added. "I spoke to my parents and all my brothers and everyone is buzzing."
Long was the only player in the squad to be called up for the first time, and he revealed it came as a surprise to him.
"I wasn't expecting it. I'm shocked but really happy", he admitted. "It was a nice surprise. I was just trying to concentrate on club football, so when I found out I was absolutely delighted."
If Long does get to make his debut, he will already have given up more than most to do so.
