Kevin de Bruyne may miss four weeks with hamstring injury

It was the sight no Manchester City fan wanted to see on Saturday afternoon, Kevin de Bruyne's premature exit from the field of play sparking worry among the City faithful.

The Belgian forward, who has been in sparkling form this season under new coach Pep Guardiola, pulled up with a hamstring injury in the 81st minute during his side's victory over Swansea.

De Bruyne, who has scored twice and notched four assists in the league this season, is rumoured to be out for up to four weeks but the full extent of his injury will not be known until Wednesday.

"It looks like it was muscular, but I am not a doctor, " Guardiola told the BBC. "It is a pity because he is an important player.

"That's why we have to have a big squad as everyone will help us."

Guardiola travels to Celtic on Wednesday night for his side's Champions League clash and should by then know how long he will be without the 25-year-old.

There was positives to take from Saturday's victory at the Liberty Stadium, with Sergio Aguero returning to the starting XI with two goals and midfielder Raheem Sterling also finding the net.

The victory also meant that City maintained their 100 per cent start to the season under Guardiola.
