Is Erling Haaland unique? - Nathan Murphy asks Brian Kerr

Erling Haaland is proving his value to Manchester City, but is there even anyone who he can be compared to in history?

Brian Kerr joined Nathan Murphy after Manchester City's win over Manchester United to discuss Erling Haaland.

Three hattricks in eight games.

Erling Haaland is as advertised. He's powerful, smart, determined and technically proficient. His relationship with Kevin De Bruyne requires no further development and his role in the Manchester City team is abundantly clear.

Haaland put Manchester United to the sword today. His hattrick was not only impressive, but also made to look very easy.

It's not the first time Manchester United have imploded this season. United previously lost to Brentford. They conceded four goals in that game during the first half too. There was a greater fight back in the second half against City, but the scoreline flattered them.

Without any real competition in the game itself, thoughts after the game turned to Haaland. Just how good is he?

Nathan Murphy asked Brian Kerr, who has seen a lot of strikers over the years.

"I don't think I've seen anyone as consistent as Erling Haaland has been at the start of this season," Kerr said.

"He's a bit of a phenomenon. When you think he's only 22 years of age and he's now at 103 goals in 100 club games at fairly top level. Not always Premier League level obviously...He's just been sensational [at the] start. It's amazing stuff."

When asked if Haaland has anything he can improve on, it was difficult for Kerr to think of something. He instead listed the young strikers strengths, which proved to be a lengthy list.

"It's obvious his physical attributes first of all. He's 6'4", 6'5", probably around 14 stone. But as well as that he moves very quickly. He's worked very hard lately on his right side. He's very powerful in the air...heading...which has added something to Manchester City which they haven't had previously.

"But apart from that, his movement, his control, his touch, his power...I've seen a fair bit of him playing international football already with Norway where he's playing with very limited players.

"In that situation you see the fella has heart, desire and that he's prepared to put up with bad passes to make them into good passes with the honesty of his effort."

Haaland can already look to breaking records for the rest of the season.

Should Ireland use Jeff Hendrick more?
