In a message with the intro "Thanks for the Memories", the midfielder wrote: "I am just writing this to thank everyone at Bohs football club for the last six to seven years I have had at the club.
"I want to thank all the staff, players, fans and the backroom staff that I have worked with and met over the last few years.
"[I] had some unbelievable memories and not one single regret. Time for a new challenge for myself. [I] want to wish the club all the best in the near future. Thanks again for giving me my chance at such a great family run club.
"[It] was an honour."
Bohemians finished eighth in the League of Ireland Premier Division in 2016.
Their last league title came in 2009, while they last won the FAI Cup in 2008 and the League Cup in 2009.
