Manchester United are reportedly a step closer to signing Jadon Sancho, as The Guardian claims a £250,000-a-week contract has been agreed with the England international.
The financial implications of a transfer that is likely to reach over €120m have been offset by the impending departure of Alexis Sanchez for Internazionale.
Over the weekend, Dortmund had set a deadline of August 10 for the transfer to allow for their preparations for the new season.
A major hurdle was overcome as broad agreement was reached that the fee could be paid in instalments over the next two to three seasons.
The would also entail €20m of add-ons to the deal, dependent on Sancho's success at Old Trafford.
The briefings come as concerns were mounting over a truncated window in which to do business, before both domestic seasons start.
Jadon Sancho
United have been tracking Sancho since he left Manchester City in 2017, when they also bid for him before he opted to join Dortmund.
This season has been another stellar success for the England international, with 17 league goals and 16 assists confirming his status as the world's most sought-after youngster.
The situation at Dortmund had threatened to deteriorate earlier this season, as Sancho fell out with coach Lucien Favre and found himself dropped to the bench.
Sancho is known to be close friends with Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba from his time in Manchester, and it is thought that agreeing personal terms will not be a problem given the scale of the transfer.
It will be the second time in a year that Manchester United will have broken the British transfer record, and the third time since re-signing Pogba in 2016.
