Jack Grealish handed a three-match suspension for "violent conduct" during draw against Wolves

Aston Villa's Jack Grealish has been handed a three-match ban for a "stamp" during Saturday's derby with Wolves.

The England U21 international was involved in an incident with Conor Coady during the game, but escaped any form of punishment.

The incident, which happened late in the first-half, was not seen by the referee or match officials, but was captured on video and shown in a replay.

In a statement today the FA said: "Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he committed an act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

"The player accepted The FA charge but contested that the automatic penalty of a three-match suspension would be clearly excessive.

"This claim was rejected following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today (Tuesday 18 October 2016).

"Grealish was involved in a 39th-minute incident with Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Conor Coady during their game on Saturday [15 October 2016]."

The suspension takes immediate effect, meaning Grealish will miss Tuesday's game at Reading and Saturday's home match with Fulham.

He will also be forced to sit out the derby against Birmingham City at St Andrew's on 30 October.
