Mark Lawrenson has revealed that he has dined with Ghislaine Maxwell, as he used to work with her father, Robert.
Lawrenson was speaking on The Football Show, and attention turned to what he has been watching during lockdown.
This included 'Filthy Rich', the shocking documentary into Jeffrey Epstein's sexual abuse that led to his incarceration. Epstein died in jail in 2019, and his ex-girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, has been arrested and charged with trafficking of minors.
Lawrenson talked about the time he spent time with the Maxwell family, which was many years before any allegations or Ghislaine Maxwell's recent arrest.
Ghislaine Maxwell
"When I managed at Oxford - I finished at Liverpool on the Thursday and managed Oxford on the Friday - I worked for her dad, Robert Maxwell, and Kevin Maxwell, his son.
"I was invited to a couple of lunches which she was at. I was actually very honoured, because all of the family were there, and me.
"I remember one Sunday lunch we had, and it was all their kids, Robert Maxwell and his wife. We had a couple of glasses of wine and then Robert Maxwell would do this thing where he would ask them questions. They were all very bright and educated people.
"He stood up, slightly the worse for wear, and he said, primarily looking at the boys in the family: "She is the only person in this family with any balls!"
"Well, look how that turned out."
Lawrenson also had something to say about President Donald Trump's comments about Maxwell, who said he 'wished her well'.
"Jesus Christ! You only have to watch that for five minutes and you think 'how on earth'.."
