Robbie Brady's goal just minutes from time etched his name into Irish footballing folklore as Martin O'Neill's side beat Italy 1-0 in Lille this evening.
Speaking after tonight's game, a clearly emotional Brady described what it felt like to score the iconic goal.
"What a moment for everyone involved," a visibly emotional Brady said after the final whistle, "We said we were going to do a job for everyone who came out here tonight and we did ti. We made history, we're in to the last 16 and we go again."
The goal will be reproduced in years to come as one of the historic moments in Irish football. The 24-year-old was almost lost for words.

"I don't know, my legs just sort of carried my body into the box and I just trusted Wes [Hoolahan] to put it where it hurts. I managed to get my head on it... I'm lost for words really. I'm over the moon, I'm emotional. It's incredible really.
"Have a look around and see what it means to everyone involved. Me included, I grew up waiting to play at this stage. Dreaming about it since I'm a little kid. To go and do it in front of my family here, it's the best feeling in the world. What a fantastic night.
"It took every bit of effort and determination. I can't really say, my heads not really working."
