Two-time Eurovision winner and Bohemians fan Johnny Logan explained why his song, 'Hold Me Now', has remained a firm favourite among the Dalymount Park faithful.
Bohemians take on St. Patrick's Athletic in the Extra.ie FAI Cup Final in the Aviva Stadium on Sunday.
Written in 1987, Logan sang 'Hold Me Now' while representing Ireland in that year's Eurovision Grand Final in Brussels, which he ultimately won.
Since then, the song has become a popular song for Bohs fan, with renditions regularly ringing around the Dalymount stands.
Ahead of Sunday's final, Logan joined Joe Molloy on Wednesday's Off The Ball. He described his own personal attachment to the song, and why its popularity has persisted to this day.
"I just think it's a great song", Logan said. "It's a great song to sing; it's a difficult song to sing!"
"I think, for a lot of people, there's a whole lot of memories tied up in that song - including for me."
"It's like a family heirloom, being passed down from generation to generation. It's a wonderful song to be associated with as the writer and the person who it came from."
Logan: "The song was originally six minutes long"
Logan also recalled precisely how the song came into being.
"I went over lines and lines, and the verses, I got done in about two days," Logan said. "The chorus was done in about two or three weeks. Then it was months and months of touching up lines until I said exactly what I wanted to say."
"When I wrote it, it was snowing - I was in Wandsworth Common in London, and I was broke. I was out walking with a Walkman, and that's where I got the first verse from, and I sang it into that."
"I went back and put the music to it, and then started working on the verses for the next couple of days."
"The song was originally six minutes long", Logan also revealed. "I had to edit it for the Eurovision. I had to try to edit it, while keeping the original feeling in it, because the 6-minute version is a really beautiful version of the song."
